I have been fascinated by photography my whole life. There is a picture of me at 6 with a Kodak Brownie around my neck. I bought my first SLR over 40 years ago and have boxes and boxes of slides of trips, climbing expeditions and daily life. The advent of digital photography opened wonderful new opportunities. I could finally adjust the image to reflect what I saw and I had the ability to make prints that I could enjoy and share with others.
For the past 7 years, I have been selling prints and digital images. I frame my images as well as print them on archival papers. I am married to an accomplished painter, Lisa Purdy, and she and I own Studio 5 in the Bolt Factory Lofts at 209 Kalamath where we work and show. We are open by appointment and most First Fridays.
The majority of my photographs are the result of travels. I have traveled all over Colorado and most of the Southwest. Not only is it too familiar, but I have seen too many cliche-ed and unimaginative images of familiar scenes. Travel allows me to bring a fresh eye and a sense of wonder to what I see. I then try to communicate that sense of wonder to my viewers.
